A group effort between three League of Utah Writers Chapters, Spinning Yarns was meant to be the book you could give your new neighbor when you move into a new place and have them like you. Not always simple to do with modern writers.
I love the story I contributed to this story. It's called THE CALL and was originally meant for a League of Utah Writers Antholgoy call for a book about hope. It didn't make it in. I was baffled by that decision — I never understand that kind of thing. However, THE CALL went on to win First Place for Mystery/Thriller and Romance category in the Olive Woolley Burt Awards. Go figure. Top prize after being passed on. It's happened before.
This near flash-fiction piece is a gem. One of my favorites. I heartily recommend THE CALL to everyone. It's a poignant and powerful story of hope in times of despair.
